Manikandan and two others were booked under Goondas act for releasing the video of women changing dress in a petrol bunk at Kauvdampalayam which is owned by Roots Company.
Couple, Manikandan (35) and Savitha (30), from Kannappanagar, Coimbatore, have been working for over four years in the petrol bunk. Recently, Manikandan brought to light a past issue where women including his wife working in the petrol bunk were secretively filmed by a supervisor.
Though the issue was settled then by deleting the videos and dismissing the supervisor, Manikandan retained a copy of the video which he released, recently. He alleged that the management hid this issue under the carpet to safeguard their company's reputation.
After he released the video, he was reportedly thrashed by the employees of the Roots Company including Kavidasan, HR Director.
Later, in a major twist cases were filed on Manikandan, the supervisor and a media person for allegedly releasing the video in social media and defaming the women in the video. Further, the trio were booked in Goondas act and remanded them in Coimbatore Central Jail.
In this scenario, Savitha has petitioned to the District Collector K Rajamani stating that false cases have been booked on her husband. She lamented that as they belong to scheduled caste, their complaints have been neglected and her husband who is the complainant is behind the bars.
"Kavisadan, Director - HR of Roots, PRO Saravanan, Manager Sankar Ganesh and Gopal who are behind the issue are yet to be arrested but my husband who initially brought the issue to light has been booked under Goondas act", she noted in her petition.
"This is outrightly a fabricated case and should be withdrawn", she requested the District Collector through her petition.
